ST. MARY’S MAJOR ARCHIEPISCOPAL PILGRIM CHURCH

The reference to “Church placed in 1000 for a thousand Mappilas” pertains to the establishment of a church in the year 999. At that time, Christian families, numbering a thousand, were present in this region. This Christian community played a significant role, initially in the southern part of the country and later in the northern regions as well.

MALEKURISH PALLI

The Malankurishi Church, also known as St. Sebastian’s Church, was built between 1800 and 1810 as a chapel on the south side of the church. It is situated on the banks of the Malayar River. This church, established in the name of V. Sebastianose, is imbued with the divine presence and grace.

EDAMANA PALLI

The Edaman Kuris or Edaman Cross, believed to have been brought by the Katamattam family from A.D. 700, was initially placed on the shores of the Thodupuzha River near Vazhithala. Before the construction of Arakuzha Church, believers used to come here, turn towards the cross, kneel down, and pray.
